Wanda Marie Hudson, 91, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, May 15, 2013.

At the request of Mrs. Hudson, there will be a private memorial service for the family, and memorials may be made to the donor's favorite charity. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Wanda was born February 13, 1922, in Mt. Vernon, Illinois to Carolyn and William Brown. In 1940, she married Leonard Hudson, and when he was discharged from the U.S. Navy, Wanda and their two children joined him as he continued his career in the oilfield. Leonard drilled wells in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado and Illinois, and each time he moved, Wanda and their children also moved. In the late 1950s, Wanda and her family settled in Pampa, Texas, and her husband started Leonard Hudson Drilling Co., Inc. Wanda made her home in Pampa until 2004, when she moved to Amarillo.

Wanda loved traveling with her husband and their friends, and later in life with her children and grandchildren. If at all possible, she never missed a party. Playing bridge and daily having coffee with her friends was also an important part of Wanda's life. Her little, white dogs were always dear to Wanda, and whenever possible, they were usually either in her lap or riding in the car with her.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Amy Marie Stout; her husband; four sisters; and one brother.

Wanda is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Stout, and husband Bob of Amarillo; her son, Leonard (Dob) Hudson, and wife April of Colleyville, Texas; four grandchildren, Summer Farina, and husband Joel of Southlake, Texas, Dax Hudson, and wife Gina of Columbus, Ohio, Stephanie Bridges, and husband Mark of Amarillo, and Jenny Hart, and husband Shawn of Amarillo. Wanda was also blessed with 10 great-grandchildren.
