Doris LaVerne McVey, age 88 of Huntsville, Texas passed away Thursday, November 14th in Huntsville, Texas. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 AM. Monday, November 18th at the Madisonville Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Dennis Ivey will officiate. Burial will follow in Midway Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4 pm to 6 pm Sunday at the funeral home. LaVerne was born in Midway, Texas on December 2, 1924. Her parents were Goldman Franklin "Buddy" Ferguson and Ida Mae Corley Ferguson. She lived most of her life in Madison County and she attended the Methodist Church in Midway with her husband. LaVerne was a homemaker and enjoyed having people over to eat and taking care of her flowers and yard. She also loved to fish and to travel, she especially liked Alaska. LaVerne liked to watch romance movies and enjoyed reading Louis L'Amour westerns. She also worked for Southwestern Bell from 1941 - 1951 as a supervisor. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raystell McVey; sisters, Ruth Sigford and Mildred Pugh and is survived by two daughters, Margaret Beerwinkle and husband, Larry of Wills Point, Texas and Lastell Fraley and husband, Marty of Huntsville, Texas; two grandchildren, Matt Beerwinkle and wife, Jama of Lubbock, Texas, Travis Beerwinkle and wife, Andrea of Friendswood, Texas and three great grandchildren, Laikin, Westin and Andrew Beerwinkle.
