He attended public schools in Clarendon Tx, later in life Willie moved to Dallas, Tx where he became employed by Parkland Hospital until he retired. He also was employed with Texas Instrument for over 15 years in the chemical department.
On October 23, 2013 Willie laid his head to rest to join his parents Willie and Effie Gardner, His son Larry Weatherton, three sisters Bobby Reese, Levatrice Lewis and Edna Daniels three brothers Billy Mack, Prince and Jessie Gardner.
Leaving behind to cherish his memories are his loving common-law wife Edith Lintz Gardner, four sons, Wesley Gardner of Lawton Oklahoma, Michael Gardner of Amarillo, Tx, Virgil Brown of Los Angeles, Calif. and Kenneth Cook of Dallas Tx; five daughters Debra Harper and Vanessa Simmons both of Lawton Oklahoma, Ceolla Collins of Dallas Tx, Jennifer Carpenter of Marshall, TX and Devella McCampbell of Amarillo, Tx; three sisters Maudie Jones and Bessie Smith both of Amarillo Texas, and Carrie Fuller of Fairfield, Ca; two brothers, Manzell Gardner of Amarillo, Texas and Larnce (Jewel) Gardner of Forney, Tx; twenty five grandchildren, thirty two great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends
