Harry Ingram McCoy of Asheville went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 2, 2011. He was 74. Harry was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend who loved his family and was an example of faithfulness and leadershiip. He was ordained as a deacon in 1963 at Calvary Baptist Church in West Asheville, where he also served as a Sunday School teacher and department director. For the last several years, he was a member of the Biltmore Baptist Church and served in the children and preschool departments. The children loved "Mr. Harry" and will miss his smiling face at the check-in-window. Harry was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Isaiah and Evelyn McInnis McCoy. He is survived by his wife of almost 49 years, Ann. He also leaves behind a daughter and son-in-law, Vicki and Mike Jennings of Arden, and three granchildren, Victoria,Luke and Bradley. Harry loved being a grandfather. He enjoyed attending their sporting events and spending time with them. He was also an avid Carolina Tarheels fan and would talk basketball with anyone who shared his passion. A celebration of Harry's life will be held on Tuesday, April 5, at 6:30 p.m. in Terrace Hall of Biltmore Baptist Church in Arden. The Revs. Kelvin Moseley and Sam McLamb will officiate. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. The family would also like to thank the professionals at CarePartners for their wonderful care of Dad and the family during his illness.
