Franciszek 'Frank' Ambroszewski was born in Poland in an era when that country was part of the Russian Empire; and though his date of birth is unknown, the 1910 and 1920 U.S. census reports indicate that he was born circa 1864.

Married in Poland circa 1889, Frank emigrated from his homeland around 1904; and six years later, his wife and children joined him. The Ambroszewskis etablished their family in the Union City section of Naugatuck where Frank went to work as a laborer at the Naugatuck Malleable Iron Company (which was renamed Eastern Malleable in 1912).
