Eleanor "Ellie" Robbins died peacefully at Sunrise of Annapolis on Aug. 30, 2013. She was born March 12, 1919, in Clay County, Texas, to William F. and Marie Bernhardt. She attended St. Paul's Lutheran School and graduated from Wichita Falls Senior High School, after which she attended business school. She married Harry L. Robbins in Wichita Falls on March 1, 1942. After World War II, she, her husband and small son moved to Stillwater, where she resided until July 2007, when she moved to Annapolis, Md., to be near her daughter.
Ellie and her husband established and operated Robbins Refrigeration Service Company until Harry passed away in 1990. She was a member both regionally and internationally of Refrigeration Service Engineer's Society Auxiliary (from 1956 to 2007) where she served in all offices, including midwest president.
Ellie was a "rock hound" and member of the Stillwater Mineral and Gem Society and also served in various offices, including president. She and her husband enjoyed traveling, having visited all 50 states, Canada, Mexico, Panama and England. Additionally, Ellie enjoyed years of volunteering in various ways in Stillwater.
While a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Stillwater, she served as a Sunday School teacher, sang in the church choir and served on the altar guild. She was a charter member of Zion's Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML) where she served in various offices both locally and regionally. After her children were grown, she and her husband became active members of Christ Lutheran Church in Perry. When she moved to Annapolis, she joined St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Crofton.
She is survived by one son, Fred L. Robbins (and his wife, Pamela) of Seminole, Fla.; a daughter, Janice S. Christensen (and her husband, Raymond J. Christensen) of Arnold, Md.; a granddaughter, Tanya L. Pfister (and her husband, Tom Pfister) of Lexington Park, Md.; and two great-grandsons, Andrew and Alex Pfister. She is also survived by one sister, Elizabeth Parker of Mesquite, Texas.
A graveside service is scheduled to be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 6500 S. Perkins Road, Stillwater, on Saturday, Nov. 16, at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Myron Maltz, Norman, will officiate.
