A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Saturday, November 16, 2013, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerry Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Asheboro. Military honors will be provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
A native of Pickens County, SC, Mr. Burns was born October 11, 1921. He was the son of the late Thomas Butler Burns and Bertha Mae Harris Burns. Mr. Burns was a general contractor and served in the US Army during World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eloise Burns, and sisters and brothers.
Mr. Burns is survived by his son, Gene Burns, of Eden, NC, and many extended family members.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm Saturday, November 16, 2013, at Ridge Funeral Home.
