Kenneth P. McDermott, of Bonneauville, entered into God's eternal care November 13, 2013.

Born August 5, 1927, in Pittston, he was the son of the late Peter and Katherine (Lee) McDermott. He was the husband of the late Bernice C. (Caskey) McDermott who died June 8, 2008.

Kenneth served his country proudly and was a veteran of the United States Navy.

He retired from the Erie Lackawanna Railroad with over 30 years of service as a trainmaster and yardmaster.

Mr. McDermott was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Bonneauville. He was also a member of the Bonneauville Lions Club, the American Legion of Biglerville, as well as the Catholic War Veterans Post #1342 of Bonneauville where he served as the Commander-in-Chief for several years.

In his spare time, Kenneth enjoyed playing pool and was quite skilled at his hobby. Scouting was of great importance to Kenneth. Over the years, he served and volunteered his time in being a Scoutmaster and Cubmaster with the Alexander Hamilton Council of Boy Scouts in New Jersey. Mr. McDermott also served as a board member and mentored several young men in reaching the Eagle Scout status in both New Jersey and the Bonneauville community.

Kenneth is survived by his very dear companion, Darlene Plank of Gettysburg, his loving children, Sue McDermott of Paramus, NJ, Bruce McDermott of Basking Ridge, NJ, Ted McDermott and wife Kimey of Biglerville, Meredithe McDermott of Biglerville; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and his beloved sister, Anelda Corbley of Brick, NJ.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Claire McDermott; and three brothers, Thomas, John, and Lee McDermott; and one sister, Mary Stark.

A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., November 18, 2013, at the St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Bonneauville, with Father Peter DiTomasso as the Celebrant. Burial will be in St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m., November 17, 2013 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., Bonneauville. There will be a service provided by the Catholic War Veterans at 7 p.m. and a Prayer Service at 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Full military honors will be provided by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
