Indian Wars Medal of Honor Recipient. Served during the Civil War as a Sergeant in Company D, 95th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, Served during the frontier Indian Wars as a First Sergeant in Troop I, 3rd United States Cavalry. He was awarded the CMOH for his bravery at the Battle of Rosebud River, Montana on June 17, 1876. His citation simply reads "Gallantry in action". His Medal was issued on June 1, 1880.
