Alice Pearl Blake, age 86, Of Uniontown, Fayette Co., Pa., died peacefully in Mount Saint Macrina Manor, in Uniontown, on Monday, April 14, 2008. She was born April 30, 1921. Alice loved working bingo at the General George C. Marshall AMVETS Post 103, in Hopwood, Fayette Co., Pa., where she was a past officer for the Ladies Auxiliary. She formerly worked at the now former Benson's Men's Clothing Store on Main St., in Uniontown, & retired form the Uniontown Area High School Cafeteria staff. Alice was very devoted to her favorite pet, "Peppy".
She was the last surviving family member. Preceding her in death were her parents, Roy Edmond Snowdon and Goldie Garnet Leaf Snowdon, her husband, Charles L. Blake, also four brothers and eight sisters.
Surviving are a special nephew whom she raised as a son, Maurice E. "Buddy" Snowdon & his wife, Janet, of Uniontown, Pa.; 3 granddaughters: Jamie Snowdon-Hibbs & her husband Scott Hibbs, Jacquelyn Snowdon Scalese & Janet Snowdon-Adamsky; 5 great grandchildren; many nieces & nephews.
Friends will be received in the Jerome W. Shell Funeral Home, 164 S. Mount Vernon Ave., in Uniontown, Pa., today from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 p.m., & on Wed., April 16, 2008, until 11 a.m., the hour of Service, with Rev. William D. Rodahaver, officiating. Private interment will be in Sylvan Heights Cemetery, in Uniontown.
