Chelsea Ann Small, a Gibraltar mother of two children, was shot and killed in an apparent robbery.

Ms. Small, 30, was found shot to death Tuesday at Advance America in the 8200 block of Telegraph Rd.

According to the Detroit News, Taylor police found the woman's body when they responded to a holdup alarm at the cash advance shop, which offers payday advances, loans and other financial services.

Taylor police Chief Mary Sclabassi said Ms. Small was shot multiple times. Police will review surveillance video.

Chief Sclabassi said to enter the store, people have to be buzzed in.

She did not confirm to the Detroit News if money was taken or how much.

The police said they are also unsure if Ms. Small knew the person who shot her.

Employees at the Hydro-Grow retailer across the street from Advance America said they were seeking a man wearing "all black, and tan boots," a worker told the newspaper.

No suspects were arrested Tuesday, but police will be downloading surveillance video. Taylor police are also seeking tips from the public.

This is Taylor's second homicide this year. The first was a young woman in the spring.

In a statement, Advance America officials said they "are deeply saddened by the tragic event that occurred in our center today."

" This senseless act of violence has shaken our company, and we share in the family's shock and grief," officials said. "Our thoughts and prayers are with them during this difficult time."

The company said it is cooperating with law enforcement.

" The safety of our employees and customers is of utmost importance, and in 17 years of operation, we have never encountered such a tragedy," the statement said. " We are directing our resources to provide the family the support and care that they need, as well as to assist employees and customers."
