Billy Joe “Joe B” Baldwin passed away May 17, 2013 at 3:15 PM at SOMC Hospice in OH. He was born January 28, 1930 in Kanawha County, WV to the late Lawrence S. (1962) and Ida L. Thaxton Baldwin (1985).

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sisters, Delma Lorine Baldwin (1927), Velma I. Higginbotham (2003); brother, Frankie L. Baldwin (2002); son, Dale Eugene Baldwin 2006); brother-in-law, Ivan O. Higginbotham (2009); step mother, Emma Baldwin.

Surviving are brother, Herbert L. Baldwin and his wife Loretta; nephew and caregiver, Veldon O. Higginbotham and his wife Janice; niece, Patricia Pennington and her husband Edward; daughter, Robin Anderson and her husband Ronnie; sister, Peggy Maloney; brother, Ken Kelly; 3 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and many nephews, nieces and friends.

Billy Joe “Joe B” Baldwin gave his heart to the Lord at an old fashion Baptist Tent meeting which was set up on Kanawha Two Mile, with preaching by Dr. Joseph Moore and other preachers. His nephew, Veldon, was a witness that night when he came forth to give his heart to the Lord and was born again and started a new life for himself. You knew that Billy Joe “Joe B” knew he used some pretty bad language most of the time, well that is not the case after he was saved. God cleaned him up inside and out. He enjoyed his Christian life and attended Church as much as he could. Most of his Church attendance was at Kanawha Two Mile Bible Church on Rich Fork.

Billy Joe “Joe B” was a carpenter and block layer. He had many friends and would do anything for you; he was a good hearted person. He enjoyed playing pool and dancing to the music before he gave his heart to the Lord and started following Him. You could ask him to cut a rug and his feet would start dancing right away, even after he was saved and in the nursing home. He really enjoyed his vanilla wafers cookies with milk. He could eat a half box before we would leave him at the nursing home each time. He was very well liked at the nursing home. The folks there at Edgewood Manor of Lucasville, OH took very good care of him and would always inform his brother, Herbert or his nephew, Veldon when things would happen to him or things changed. That was his home since September 2003. Many thanks go to the staff, Shell, Janell and special thanks for the one that was closest to Billy Joe “Joe B” there, Donna, his nurse that took special care of him. Many thanks to the hospital at SOMC for their care and SOMC Hospice in OH.

Service will be 2:30 PM, Friday, May 31 at Long & Fisher Funeral Home, Sissonville with Dr. Joseph Moore and Pastor David VanHorn officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Garden of Memories, Sissonville.

Friends may call from 6 – 9 PM on Thursday, May 30 at the Funeral Home.
