Obituary for Barbara Ann Hurst Smallwood
Barbara Ann Hurst Smallwood, loving wife of Major Donald B. Smallwood, U.S. Army Retired, went home to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ, on November 9, 2013, at the age of 73. Barbara, a native of Oxford, FL, and resident of Livingston, LA, was a member of First Pentecostal Church – Westbank, Marrero, LA and later First United Pentecostal Church in Denham Springs, LA. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, daughters Tammy S. Roark (Steve) of Marrero, LA and Brenda S. Smallwood (fiancé Rick) of Denham Springs, LA; sons Donald B. Smallwood, Jr. of Ocala, FL, and Joseph P. Smallwood (Tonya) of Pineville, LA; granddaughters Mandy R. Sologaistoa (Sergio) and Katie Reis (Anthony) of Marrero, LA, Caitlin Smallwood and Carsyn Smallwood of Pineville, LA, great grandson to be Hunter Reis, sister Venita Beck of Oxford, FL and Rev. Billy J. Hurst of Hollister, CA, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceded in death by her parents, Jesse M. Hurst and Victora Varnum Hurst, sisters Hazel Hurst and Lois Lambert, and brother J. M. Hurst.

Barbara was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She was also Aunt Bobbie to many. She was looking forward to the birth of her first great-grandson, Hunter Reis, in February and to the marriage of her daughter, Brenda, to Richard Liley in April. Barbara loved to travel, shop, and go places, even as a child. She especially loved holidays and received great joy in giving and making memories with her beloved family. Barbara was a woman of great faith who always had an encouraging word when needed. She was a prayerful woman whose prayers have touched the lives of many. Barbara was a faithful giver and firmly believed you could never out give the Lord. She loved and served Him faithfully.

"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith" II Timothy 4:7

She will be missed dearly more than words could ever express.

Visitation will be at Banks-Page Theus Funeral Home in Wildwood, FL on Friday, Nov. 15th, 2013 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 16th, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Pinelevel Cemetery in Oxford, FL.
