After the death of her father in 1897, Wittie M. Carson moved with her widowed step-mother Lucy to Marlow, Indian Territory. On July 15, 1907 she was united in marriage to James Walter Cartwright who was the brother of her step-mother.
Services were conducted by Rev. C. B. Hamby at Memory Chapel, A. L. Moore and Sons Mortuary on Feb. 12, 1953 and concluded at Greenwood Memorial Park Cemetery, Phoenix, AZ.
Note: According to the information suppied by her son James L. Cartwright on Wittie's death certificate, he gave the name of her mother as "Ava Bryant".
