EC married his first wife, Nancy Lavalier AINSWORTH (b.18 Aug 1892). Nancy died on 26 Nov 1912, shortly after giving birth to their only child, on 31 Jan 1912 in Soso, Jones, Mississippi; Their baby daughter, Lavalier Juanita VALENTINE (b.15 Nov 1912) died 4 months later on 13 Mar 1913.
