Farmer, merchant, municipal official.

Born at St-Marc-sur-Richelieu, Quebec on 25 June 1848, he came to Manitoba and farmed three river lots in the Rural Municipality of St. Norbert. He also operated a small store in the vicinity of the present junction of Highway 247 and Red River Drive. On 25 November 1883, he married Marie-Louise Champagne. He served as Reeve of the Rural Municipality of Ritchot, in which capacity he attended the 1905 founding meeting in Brandon of the Union of Manitoba Municipalities. His son, Basile Dufort, was a councillor for the Municipality of Fort Garry from 1941 to 1943 and a school trustee in St. Norbert. He died on 22 October 1914. Dufort Place in Grandmond Park is named for him.
