Tom Sumner Thompson, 90, of Findlay died at 7:35 a.m. on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at his home at Birchaven Village. Tom was born on June 14, 1928 in Rudolph, Ohio to the late Hobart and Edna (Musser) Thompson. He earned his B.S. degree from Bowling Green State University and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Toledo. Tom was employed at Marathon Oil Company for 38 years in various managerial positions, serving as Manager of Office Services at the time of his retirement in 1987. Tom was extremely devoted to his family. His purpose in life was setting an example of living a faithful Christian life, being a good citizen and serving others. This is the legacy he leaves. He married Sally Marie Brunk, who preceded him in death on November 6, 1995. He later married Mary L. (Wheeler) Hooper and she survives. Also surviving are three children: Toni Wilke of Waterford, Wisconsin; Jeffrey S. (Cathy) Thompson of Katy, Texas; Bradley B. (Karen) Thompson of Austin, Texas; eight grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren; step-children, David L. Hooper of Dania Beach, Florida, Dennis E. (Terri) Hooper of Findlay, and Denise L. (Robin) Clark of Worthington, Ohio. Tom was also preceded in death by his brother, Robert Thompson, in 1951. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran serving during the Korean War. Tom was active in many social and community organizations. First Christian Church, where he worshipped for 60 years and was Elder Emeritus, was very dear to him. He enjoyed his service to Kiwanis, Associated Charities, YMCA, Blanchard Valley Hospital, United Way, Hancock Christian Clearing House, and Findlay Area Marathon Oil Annuitants. Visitation will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Kirkpatrick-Behnke Funeral Home, 500 Lima Avenue, Findlay, Ohio. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, at the funeral home with his nephew the Rev. Jamie Brunk and his pastor Rev. Jack Sullivan officiating. Private family burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Bowling Green, Ohio.
