Jill, age 58, passed away being the mother of Courtney Jo Hartman, age 22, and Michale Duncan Hartman, age 18, and the spouse of Michael F. Hartman. Jill and Mike were together for over 30 years.

Those who were Jill's friends remember her for her smile and compassion for others. She worked in food service from management to waitress and bartender. Her willingness to take time to listen to her guests was truly a gift.

Upon the birth of her first child, Mike and Jill decided she would work part time so that day care did not raise their children.

Even in the grip of death, Jill still smiled through the pain she endured.

Jill was born in Mankato, Blue Earth County, Minn., and grew up in the Good Thunder, Minn., area the daughter of Dolores Margaret Armstrong (Caven) and Clinton Russell Armstrong, both deceased. Jill was blessed with five sisters of which one sister predeceased Jill and three brothers. There are 19 nieces and nephews.

Jill is also survived by sister-in-laws Diane E. (Chris) Knutson (Hartman), Sheere A. (Mike) Zupan (Hartman) and one brother-in-law Don W. (Sandy) Hartman all who live in the Seattle, Wash., area. Her Father and Mother-in-law were Mike and Virginia Mae Hartman (Shumway), both deceased, formerly of Miles City, Mont. There are four nephews.

Jill's request was to pass along the following: "Everyone appreciate and make the most of life and continue to do good actions for their family and others."

Jill received the last sacrament before her demise and cremation has taken place. No services are planned for the Billings area. A family and friends get together may happen in Minnesota in the spring of 2014.

The family requests no food, flowers, plants or other items be sent.
