Dear Madam.
I have the Honour to forward the following extract from D.V.14 dated 29/2/1946 relating to the conspicuous services of the undermentioned deceased member of the Australian Military Forces;
"His Majesty the King has been graciously pleased to approve that the following be Mentioned for services rendered in the South-West Pacific Area during the period 1st October 1944 to 31st March 1945
Mentioned in Despatches VX40784 - Sgt. Donald Tucker 2/8 Inf. Bn."
The unit shown is that in which the above was serving at the time of the Award.

SHIELDS (5) DEMONSTRATE TO THEIR MATES IN HEADQUARTER COMPANY, 2/8TH AUSTRALIAN INFANTRY BATTALION, THE WAY IN WHICH A 3 INCH MORTAR IS ASSEMBLED IN THE MINIMUM OF TIME. ON THE LEFT OF THE DEMONSTRATORS ARE, FROM LEFT:- CORPORAL S.C. PATON (1), PRIVATE R.L. MORLEY (2) AND PRIVATE F.W. SAUNDERS (3). THE THREE ON THE RIGHT OF THE PICTURE, ARE FROM LEFT:- LANCE-CORPORAL J.A. GARDNER (6), LIEUTENANT E.A.W. DOUGLAS (7) AND CORPORAL D. TUCKER (8). VX40169 CORPORAL S.C. PATON (1); VX59258 PRIVATE R.L.
