The Mt. Hermon Cemetery was originally known as the Skiles Cemetery. Possibly two of the oldest people buried there were known as Old Uncle Billy and Aunt Rachel Skiles who lived one mile south. Their graves are surrounded by a rock wall in the southwest section of the cemetery. The graves once had a shingle cupola over them which is now gone.
