Howard W. Guy, formerly of Moscow, died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2013, in Rosewood, Calif. He was 79.

Howard was born July 26, 1934, in Moscow to Creighton and Edith Guy. He attended Moscow schools until he graduated. Howard enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1953 and served for three years. Howard was released from the Army three months early so he could attend college at Santa Rosa Junior College in California. Howard later moved back to Moscow to attend the University of Idaho, graduating with bachelor's degree in education.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents, Edith and Creighton Guy; his sister, Connie Benson; and brothers Warren and Jim. He is survived by a brother, Harlan of Wilton, Calif.

Viewing will be 12-6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, 2013, at Short's Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013, at Short's Funeral Chapel, with interment to follow at Moscow Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
