Funeral services were held on Wednesday April 3, 1985 for Hardy Althoff at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Royal, la. Rev. Alan Janneke officiated at the 10:30am service.
Casket bearers were: Kaylan Abel, John Garms, Wayne Reese, Dick Garms, Bob White and Dean Reese
Honorary Casket Attendants were: Harlan Schoer, James Christensen, Russell Brugman, Warner Walrath, Harold Steffen and Kermit Zieman.
Burial was made in the Oakland Cemetery near Peterson with the Baumgarten Funeral Home of Peterson in charge of the arrangements.

Hardy Heinrich Arthur Althoff, the son of Andreas Sebastian and Christine Biesking Althoff, was born Sept. 4 , 1898 at Wartburg, Illinois. He attended school near his childhood home and was confirmed on March 31, 1912 while in the eighth grade.
He had been a resident of Clay County, Iowa since 1918 and was united in marriage to Lena Struve on Aug. 24, 1921 at Spencer, la. They became the parents of three children and lived on a farm north of Peterson.
Hardy was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church at Royal, he was on the building committee, an Elder
for many years and a member of the Lutheran Laymens League.
For the past year and a half he had resided at the Sioux Care Center in Sioux Rapids and it was there he passed away on March 31,1985. at the age of 86.
Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers and four sisters.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Lena, two sons and their wives, Burdette and Alma of Hayward, Cal. and William and Norma of Peterson, one daughter and her husband, Margie and Jim Hull of Bumey, Cal.
Also surviving are eleven grand children, six greatgrandchildren , other relatives and friends.
