Don farmed in Nebraska for many years until he decided to leave agriculture and go to school at Mitchell Tech, Mitchell, South Dakota. He graduated from Mitchell with a degree in plumbing and heating. Don moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota following graduation, and worked at the Empire Mall in the Maintenance Department until his retirement. Don met the love of his life, Joan, shortly after moving to Sioux Falls, and they became Husband and Wife on June 15, 1991 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Don enjoyed working around his house and yard, and was very proud of his roses, which he lovingly tended in front of their home. Don also enjoyed canning, dancing with Joan, and attending his grandchildren's school activities.
Don struggled for many years with CCL and the health issues associated with forms of Leukemia, but always had a smile on his face and a happy greeting to all that he met and saw.
Don is survived by: wife, Joan Berg; sister, Shirley Berg of Yankton, South Dakota; aunt, Geneva Michaelis of Spencer, Nebraska; step-children, Tony of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Tim of Chamberlain, South Dakota, Tom of Salem, South Dakota and Terri Jo of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; several step-grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
