Violet Delia Conway was born on July 23, 1906 in Moose Lake, Minnesota to Peter and Della Abbott Gay. The family lived in Moose Lake and then Minneapolis. She and William Conway were married on February 16, 1926 in Minneapolis. They lived there until 1932 when they moved to Plankinton, SD. They moved to Slayton in 1938. William passed away on April 22, 1972. Violet continued living in Slayton. Violet worked at Silverberg's Department Store for several years and then worked at Ronnie's Dairy Creme, where everyone called her "Grandma," for many years. Violet passed away at the Murray County Memorial Hospital on September 1, 1995 at the age of 89. She was an active member of St. Ann's Church and W.C.C.W. for over 50 years. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting and donated many of her works to the hospital and church.
