Olen Lancaster Taylor was born on April 25, 1925 in Stewart County, Tennessee, the son of Fred Lee "Freddie" Taylor (1879–1967) and Sarah "Margaret" (Lancaster) Taylor (1885–1957). {His World War II Draft Registration Card has his middle name as Lancaster and his birth date as April 13, 1925.}

He was a US Navy veteran of World War II, and he was married 1st on April 1, 1947 in Jacksonville, Florida as the 1st husband of Flora "Nell" (Sanders) (Taylor) Lumpkins (ca 1932–17 Jun 2013) of Dothan, Alabama. At the time of the 1950 census, Olen and Nell were living in Detroit, Michigan. Olen and Nell later divorced, and Olen was married 2nd to Edna ( -- ) Berny, while Nell was married 2nd to Charles Lumpkins.

Olen was a butcher at Adams Five Points Market and a member of the Baptist church. Living at 809 Country Club Drive, he was 65 years old and married when he died on February 8, 1991 at Memorial Hospital after an extended illness.

Survivors included his widow Edna Berny Taylor in Clarksville, three sons, two Berny stepsons, a daughter, a stepdaughter, brother Charles Taylor of Clarksville, sisters Lois Chilcutt, Cora Jackson and Sylvia Hill, all at Clarksville and Mary Dean in Inkster, Michigan and five grandchildren.


Funeral Services were held at Neal-Tarpley Funeral Home, and burial was in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Clarksville.
