Derrick Jerome Hill Jr., 27, of McIntosh, died Aug. 15, 2008 at the USA Hospital in Mobile. He was a brick mason for Holmes Masonry. Preceding him in death were his father, Derrick Hill Sr., and grandparents, Alice and Walter Hill, and Mary and Ray Williams.
Survivors include his wife, Daneta Hill of McIntosh; two children, daughter Destiny Hill and son DaMireyon Rouse, both of McIntosh; mother and stepfather, Mary and Vick Barnes Sr. of McIntosh; four brothers, Gary Reed of Axis, Desmond (Mary) Hill Sr., Eric Hill Sr. and Kenyel Hill, all of McIntosh; and sisters, Dawn (Marcus) Thomas, Shanta (Tabarro) Reed Sr., Selena Hill, Angela Hill and Christian Hill, all of McIntosh.
Viewing will be Saturday, Aug. 23, 10 a.m. to the funeral hour of 11, at the Church of God Deliverance in McIntosh with Elder Willie O. Roberts, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in the Vaughn Cemetery in McIntosh under the direction of Jackson Memorial Funeral Home of Jackson.
