George Dale Allard, 90, long time resident of Flora passed away at his home on April 25, 2013 in Flora, Mississippi. Visitation will be held at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Ridgeland on Sunday, April 28, 2013 from 3:00pm to 5:00pm. The Funeral will be held at First Baptist Church of Flora on Monday, April 29, 2013 at 11:00am with a one hour visitation before.

Dr. Allard was born on August 22, 1922 in Vienna, Illinois to the late Phyllis Ragsdale Allard and Ray H. Allard. He attended Flora High School and Vienna High School, and graduated from Flint Central High School in Flint, Michigan. Dr. Allard attended Flint Junior College and later graduated from Mississippi State College (now Mississippi State University) with a degree in Agricultural Economics.

After graduating from college, Dr. Allard joined the U.S. Navy. He was commissioned an ensign at Notre Dame Midshipmen's School. He served the U.S. Navy in the European and Pacific theater of war during World War II and during his service Dr. Allard participated in the Normandy Invasion.

Dr. Allard later attended Tulane University Medical School. It was during this time that he married his wife of 60 years, Edna Earl R. Allard. Upon graduating from medical school, he began his practice in Sturgis, Mississippi. A year later he and his family moved to Flora where he practiced medicine for nearly fifty years. During his practice he was an active member of the Mississippi Academy of Family Physicians.

Dr. Allard was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Flora where he served as Sunday School teacher, Deacon and Trustee. He was instrumental in the organization of Tri-County Academy and served on the Board of Directors. He also served on the Board of the Andrew Jackson Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

In addition to his parents, Dr. Allard is preceded in death by two children, Charlotte Allard and Ray R. Allard; a sister, Jeanette Allard Hastings and a brother, Ray H. Allard.

He is survived by his wife, Edna Earl R. Allard and two sons, George "Dale" Allard, Jr. (Juliana) and Joseph "Ray" Allard (Cindy); five grandchildren, Justin Allard, Charlotte Allard, Logan Allard, Shelby Allard and Houston Allard; and two sisters, Mary Ellen Wheeler and Gertrude Taylor. Survivors also include many nieces and nephews.

The Allards would like to thank Southern Care Hospice, especially Sharon, Nikki and Jackie, for their wonderful care throughout the last 5 years.
