Published in the Portland Press Herald on February 5, 1956. Yarmouth, Feb. 4 -- Funeral services for Alvah E Curit were held at the Lindquist Funeral Home this afternoon at 2 o'clock. The Rev. Clyde M Campbell, pastor of the First Parish Church officiated and interment was in Riverside Cemetery.

Mr. Curit was born at Chebeague Island, Aug. 8, 1867, the son of the late John and Dorothea Estes Curit. He came to Yarmouth with his parents at an early age and received his education here. He married Carrie Wilson of this town who died 14 years Sus. Except for a brief period when he lived in Freeport, most of his life was spent in this town.

He was a charter member of the Yarmouth Fire Department and a former member of Susquisong Tribe of Red Men.

Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. John L Cheney, and Mrs. Evelyn C. Hamilton, Yarmouth; Mrs. Charles Bragdon, Freedom; Mrs. Wallace I Savage, Woolwich; two sons, Ernest M of Yarmouth and Neil F of Pownal; two brothers, Irving of Roxbury, Mass.; I Scott of Yarmouth; 32 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
