Lillian Ilene Honeycutt Young Jacks was born March 23, 1927 at Cedar Grove, Missouri to George W. and Beulah (Stark) Honeycutt. She earned her eternal reward on December 24, 2020 at the age of 93.

On June 29, 1944, Ilene was married to Amuel Evans Young at Summersville, Missouri. They had 49 years together, living in St. Louis, Richland and Summersville until Amuel’s death on September 29, 1993. To this union six children were born: Linda Irlene, Gary Gene, Daryl Dwain, Steven LeRoy, Connie Sue and Vicki Colleen.

In March 1994, Ilene married Les Hunt who died in December of 1995. In June 1999, she married Bob Platts in Grand Junction, Colorado. Bob died in May of 2008. On March 29, 2013, Ilene married J.T. Jacks in Grand Junction, Colorado where they resided until April of 2014 when she returned to Summersville to be closer to family. J.T. died in November of 2019.

Ilene was preceded in death by her husbands; her daughters Linda Dewitt and Connie Harmon; her son, Gary Young; her parents; her mother and father-in-law, Robert and Cora Young; her sons-in-law, Dale Dewitt and Jake Warren and her brothers, Bill and Dale Honeycutt.

She is survived by her children, Daryl and Carolyn Young of Mtn. Home, Arkansas, Steven Young and Kathy Gleason-Buda of Holt, Missouri and Vicki Warren of Jefferson City, Missouri; 17 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren; a brother Bobby Honeycutt and his wife Lois of Eldon, Missouri; a sister, Margaret Ann Bolton of West Plains, Missouri; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She is also survived by some very special people, Darlene and Robert Lourance, Brenda and Bill Dampier, Danny and Judy Harmon and a very special friend, Lorene Cox of Palisade, Colorado. Ilene and Lorene were like sisters since 1940, when they started high school together.

Ilene was baptized in 1942 at the Church of Christ in Hartshorn, Missouri. Ilene said she never did anything outstanding in school, but she did outstanding things in life.

Amuel and Ilene owned the Little Diamond Café from 1957-1959 in Summersville. Ilene worked for Angelica Uniform Company from 1959-1989. During retirement she stayed active serving as Mayor, Council Woman, Old Mill Rehab board member, Sunday School teacher, writer of Summersville Beacon Senior Age Center new column, Senior Center board member and volunteer. Somehow, with all she did for her community, she found time to be wonderful mother and grandmother.

In Ilene’s own words, “If I go tomorrow, it’s been a great trip.”
