MURPHYSBORO - Amy Burke, 34, went to be with the Lord on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 9, 2013, at her home, in Murphysboro.
She was born March 20, 1979, in Carbondale to Duane and Cindy (Weber) Burke.
Miss Burke was a very active member of Elm Street Baptist Church, in Murphysboro, where she assisted in making telephone calls for all of the church activities. She was a great country music fan and an extreme Cardinal baseball fan. The highlight of her life was when she went to New York City and met Katie Couric. What brought Amy the most joy was being at home and having her family near by, celebrating birthdays and holidays. The absolute love of her life was her nephew, Jack Chase Burke and niece, Maggie Mae Burke. Amy loved to laugh and make people laugh. What Amy would want more than anything else would be to see everyone she knows in heaven. Jesus was her heart. She loved him and wanted everyone she knew to love him, too!
Besides her parents; survivors include her brother and sister-in-law, Patrick and Chelsea Burke, nephew, Jack Burke and niece, Maggie Burke; grandparents, Mary Jo Weber and Pat and Aliene Burke; aunts and uncles, Chuck "Sandy" and Kim Weber, Mary Helen Peeler, Jerry Peeler and Patty and Tom Welton and Bob Burke and his partner, Miki; eight cousins, Alisha, Ginney, Kellie, Katie, Hayley, Cole, Chasey and Josh and her Elm Street Baptist Church family.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Charles Weber Sr. and cousin, Chase Weber.
Services will be at noon Wednesday, Nov. 13, in Elm Street Baptist Church with Dr. Daryl Varble officiating. Entombment will be in Pleasant Grove Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the church.
Memorials may be made to Elm Street Baptist Church.
