BRIGHTON, Iowa — Steven L. Wheeler, 58, of Brighton, Iowa, passed away on Friday, Nov. 8, 2013, at the Washington County Hospital. Memorials may be directed to the family of Steven or Paws and More Animal Shelter of Washington, Iowa in Steven's name.
Casketbearers will be Michael Wheeler, John Bryant, Curt Dietrich, Pat Purdy, Ryan Steele and Bill Brokaw. Honorary casketbearers will be Alec Dietrich, Jason Wheeler, Courtney Moyers, Melissa Freese, Kurt Freese and Audrey Wheeler.
Steven Lee Wheeler was born on Dec. 8, 1954, in Muscatine, the son of Robert W. and Marjorie E. (Smull) Wheeler. On May 8, 2010, Steven was united in marriage to Marina Juerges in Muscatine.
He was proud to serve his country in the United States Navy from 1973 to 1977. Steven worked for Auto Zone of Washington, as store manager. He loved his dogs, working with tools, cooking from scratch and time with his family.
Steven will be deeply missed by his wife, Marina of Brighton; his son, Christopher Wheeler and wife, Bethany of Cedar Rapids; step-son, Christopher Stevens of Phoenix; four grandchildren, Michael and Audrey Wheeler and Breanna and Christian Stevens and their mother, Rhiannon Webster; his mother, Marjorie Wheeler of Muscatine; sisters, Sharon Freese and husband, Mark of Muscatine and Tonya Brokaw and husband, Bill of Letts; and several nieces and nephews.
Steven was preceded in death by his father and brother, Randy Wheeler.
