Jane Jones Rosenfield, who died on Thursday, November 19, 1914, was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Jones and was born in Montgomeryshire, North Wales, on December 11, 1851. When a small girl her parents moved to Liverpool, England, and her girlhood days were spent in that great seaport city. On September 11, 1876, she was married to Alexander Rosenfield in St. Bride's church, Liverpool, and there they resided till 1886 when Mrs. Rosenfield and her three small children came to the United States to join her husband who had preceded her a short time before. They resided in Seattle until 1889 when they moved to their present place near Greenbank on Whidby island and this has been their home ever since, and in this vicinity the deceased has passed a true and noble life, dearly beloved by her family and neighbors, and noted for her many kind acts and womanly qualities.

In early life Mrs. Rosenfield was united to the church of England and ever remained a true and faithful member and consistent Christian. While sick and on her death-bed, on one of her last conscious days her daughter Margaret brought her a bunch of violets, from her garden which she so dearly loved, and she whispered, "Isn't God good to give me the little violets?"

The deceased is survived by her husband and five children; three sons: Sheriff Jack Rosenfield of Island county, Maurice and Edward, and two daughters, Mrs. H. T. Wanamaker, wife of Island County's auditor, and Miss Emma who is a trained nurse.

The funeral services were held at the Congregational church on Saturday, November 21, and were conducted by Rev. W. W. Switzer who paid a deserved tribute to the noble life of the deceased. Appropriate selections were sung by the choir. The floral offerings were beautiful and many. The remains were interred in Sunnyside cemetery, and the services were attended by a large crowd of friends from all over the community.
