Daniel Roy Herrin, 95, of Greybull, passed away peacefully at his home in Greybull on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013.

Daniel Roy Herrin was born July 13, 1918 in St. Paul, Minn., the son of Charles and Catherine (Conolly) Herrin. Daniel grew up and received his schooling in St. Paul.

On Oct. 12, 1940 in St. Paul, Minnesota, Daniel married the love of his life, Marcella Anna Johnson. They were married for 73 years and received a plaque for being the longest married couple in the State of Wyoming.

Daniel served his country honorably during World War II as a United States Marine in Okinawa, the South Pacific, and China from 1944 – 1946.

Daniel was a meat inspector for the United States Department of Agriculture until he retired.

Daniel enjoyed shooting guns, hunting, reading Civil War history, and watching old movies. Daniel was very active up until the age of 90 jogging and riding his bike every day. He loved having coffee with "the guys" at Uptown Café.

Daniel was a member of the Knights of Columbus, a member of the Church of the Sacred Heart in Greybull and was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.

Daniel is preceded in death by his parents; one son, Charles Herrin; one sister, Molly; one granddaughter, Kathryn; and one great-grandson, Logan.

Daniel is survived by his loving wife, Marcella Herrin of Greybull; his children, Julie (Leroy) Nollette of Sherwood, Ore., Ellen Herrin of Casper, and Daniel (Becky) Herrin of Basin; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
