“Marriage of Miss Carrie E. Couch and Van Dyck Fort
A pretty wedding was celebrated at 6 o’clock last evening. It united in the holy relation of matrimony Van Dyck Fort of Chicago, and Miss Carrie E. Couch, a charming young lady of this city. The ceremony was performed at the home of the bride’s mother, No. 432 Second avenue, Dr. E. R. Burkhalter of the First Presbyterisn church officiating. The ceremony was erformed beneath a canopy of fern and apple blossoms, and at its conclusion the earnest congratulations of the assembled company were extended. Mr. and Mrs. Fort were the recipients of a number of beautiful and handsome gifts from their friends. A wedding collation was served and the bridal couple departed on the 9 o’clock passenger on a southern tour to New Orleans, Jacksonville and other points in the sunny region. Mr. Fort occupies a position in the freight department of the Illinois Central railway at Chicago, but at one time was a resident of Cedar Rapids. His bride is an estimable and popular young lady, who was greatly estemmed in society circles.”
