Peggy Joan Lewis Griggs, 78, El Dorado, died Saturday, November 9 at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital. A Celebration of her life will be held 2:00 pm, Friday, November 15 at Carlson Funeral Home, El Dorado. Visitation with the family present will be on Thursday, November 14 from 6:00 to 7:30 also at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow the services in Union Cemetery, in rural Benton.

Peggy was born on July 29, 1935 in Towanda the daughter of Arthur Lloyd and Margaret "Opal" McHatton Lewis. She graduated from El Dorado High School; Butler Junior College, and Wichita Vo-Tech. She was an accountant in the payroll department at Wichita State University. Peggy lived most of her life in Butler and Sedgwick Counties. She was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church in Wichita, and enjoyed sewing and crocheting for her family and the Wichita Children's Home.

On September 29, 1952, Peggy and Donald Lee Griggs were married in El Dorado, Kansas. He preceded her in death on May 24, 1990 in Norfolk, VA.

Those who survive include her children, son Russell Dean Griggs and wife Kathleen; her daughter Michele Leigh Pehrson and Bill Keeney; seven grandchildren Kandi Elaine Levasseur; Jason Alan Griggs; Valarie Renae Baker; Robert Lee Swisher; Micheal David Swisher; Justin Andrew Swisher; Bradley Allen Brubaker; fourteen great-grandchildren Leah Kate Ellis, Christopher Ryan Levasseur ; Austin Alan Griggs, Andrew Rea Griggs, Ashley Dawn Griggs, Amy Dawn Baker, Alexis Nicole Baker, Ava Lynn Swisher, Oshea Brubaker, Takota Swisher, Miles Lee and Margaret "Maggie" Elizabeth Swisher (Twins of Robert and Sarah Swisher), Lori Hunt, Robert Gray, and Jackson Jennings. A brother James R. Lewis, El Dorado; Sisters Vivian McGoyne, El Dorado; Rita Bohnert, Weatherford, TX; Ruth Ann Lauer, Sacramento, CA.

She was also preceded in death by her parents.
