He was born Aug. 7, 1924 in DeLand, son of John W. Vaughn and Monzella Hoover. He was preceded in death by his father; one son, Ronald Eugene; six brothers and two sisters. He married Ruby Bomgarden on Feb. 16, 1943. She survives.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He retired from the University of Illinois Large Animal Clinic in 1988 after 30 years of service.
He is also survived by two sons, Danny Vaughn and David Vaughn; daughter, Donna Zimmerman; two sisters, Barbara (Rob Roy) Twist and Helen (Murval) Richardson; one brother, Rex (Juanita) Kallembach; two granddaughters, Heidi Zimmerman and Hayley (Harvey) Reynolds; three grandsons, Travis (Jessica) Vaughn, Rory (Kriston) Olson and Cody Vaughn and two great-grandchildren, Braydn and Kyndol.
