DENISON - Mr. Douglas Arthur Bush, 70, of Denison passed away on November 4, 2013 in Plano. He was born on June 15, 1943 in Denison to Jesse Bush and Fern Giles.

He married Iola Jo Backest on September 28, 1962 in Denison. He was a graduate of Denison High School in 1961.

He served in the U.S. Navy in 1962-1963. He worked many years at the Denison Press Print Shop and later at LOF before going to work for the Dept. of Homeland Security/ Citizenship & Immigration Services as an adjudications officer, retiring in July, 1912.

He was an avid sportsman and loved the outdoors.

Douglas was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Denison, Elks Lodge 238, and VFW 1735.

He is survived by his wife Iola Jo Bush; two children, Mike Bush and Dabney of New Home, and Dea Ann Parker of Dewey, Okla.; four grandchildren, Crystal Vick and friend Tyler Crawford of Bartlesville, Okla., Peyton Bush of New Home, Shelby Bush of Port Angeles, Wash., and Gaige Bush of New Home; and two great-grandchildren, Lexi Vick and Noah Vick of Bartlesville, Okla.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Jesse and Fern Giles Bush; mother and father-in-law, Howard "Pug" and Adell Backest; and two sisters, Joy Soucy and Lois McPhail.

Services for Mr. Bush will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, November 8 at the American Funeral Home Chapel in Denison, with Rev. Rusty Denny and Rev. Bob Stevens officiating. Interment will follow at 11:30 a.m. Friday, November 8 at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Calera, Okla.

Pallbearers serving are Chance Backest, Donn Gordon, Todd King, Brian Cole, Colby Nunley, Donnie Walton, Adam Chastain, Mark McKinney. The family suggests memorials may be made to a charity of choice .

The family will have a visitation time from 6 -7 p.m. Thursday, November 7, 2013 at the American Funeral Services, 4312 W. Crawford St., Denison.
