Funeral services for Gus Zoch, 91, of Warda will be held Sunday, November 10, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Warda, Texas. Visitation will be on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m., with the family present from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., and on Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.

Mr. Zoch passed away the evening of Thursday, November 7, 2013 at Monument Hill Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in La Grange. He was born January 12, 1922 in Warda, Texas to Carl E. Zoch and Anna Auguste (Hannusch) Zoch. Gus was baptized on January 22, 1922 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church by Rev. Gottfried Buchschacher and was confirmed on April 5, 1936 by Rev. Paul C. Eifert. His confirmation verse was Second Corinthians 12:9, "My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly, therefore, will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."

Gus was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Army from November, 1942 through September, 1945. He married Irene Hedwig Vogel on December 30, 1945 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Serbin, Texas. They were blessed with three children, Delbert, Delores, and Darlene.

Gus was a farmer, and, in latter years, he became a carpenter and worked for M&M Lumber as well as Giese Construction. He enjoyed hunting, gardening and being at home with his family.

Gus Zoch is survived by his son, Delbert Zoch and wife, Judy, of Warda, his daughter, Delores Marburger of Austin, eight grandchildren, Stephanie and Mike Tabbert of Warda, Shannon Kasper of Rabbs Prairie, Shane Kasper of Bastrop, Shea Kasper of Warda, Bruce Zoch of Warda, Chris and Elizabeth Kovar of San Antonio, Bridgett Kovar of Austin, Alesha Marburger of Austin, ten great grandchildren, son in law, Larry Kasper of Warda, brother Paul Zoch of Serbin, as well as numerous nieces, nephew, cousins, and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Anna Zoch, wife, Irene Hedwig Vogel Zoch, daughter; Darlene Kasper, son in law, Mike Marburger, daughter in law, Barbara Zoch, three infant grandsons and fourteen brothers and sisters.

Pallbearers will be Bruce Zoch, Chris Kovar, Shannon Kasper, Shane Kasper, Shea Kasper and Mike Tabbert.

Memorials have been requested to be given to the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Warda or to a charity of one's choice.
