TRAIN KILLS DRIVER
South Deerfield - After halting his car for a scheduled train to pass, Fred Tirrell, 63, of Leyden Rd, Greenfield, was killed yesterday when he started over the Conway st crossing and the machine was struck by a work train.

Funeral services for Fred S Tirrell of 528 Leyden Road, who was killed Thursday morning when his car was struck by a Boston and Maine Railroad engine at the Conway St. grade crossing in South Deerfield, took place Saturday at 2 pm at the McCarthy Funeral home. Rev. George Carter officiated and burial was in Green River Cemetery. Bearers were Leon, Harry, George and Russell Tirrell, Joseph Helfes, and Henry Hayde.
