Cindy Hobbs, 63, of West, passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2013, in West. A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 10 a.m. Monday, November 11, at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with the Rev. Boniface Onjefu as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, November 10, at Aderhold Funeral Home.

Cindy was born in Waco, Texas, to the late Edward M. and Adele (Smajstrla) Nemecek. She attended St. Mary's School and was a 1968 graduate of West High School. Cindy also attended Texas A & M University and Sam Houston University graduating in 1972 with a Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education. She was a first grade and kindergarten teacher for the Killeen, Ft. Hood, and El Paso Independent School Districts. Cindy was an owner of the Nemecek Brothers Meat Market for over 20 years and also worked for the Subway Sandwich Shop in West. She was a longtime faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption. Cindy was also a member of the Catholic Daughter's of America Court #829 and the K.J.Z. T. St. Ludmila Society #11. In serving her community, Cindy volunteered for the Senior Citizen Center, delivered Meals on Wheels, and was on the History of West Museum Board and the West Hospital Authority Board. She was an avid Texas A & M fan, and enjoyed reading and playing Sudoku. Cindy especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and watching movies with them.

She was preceded in death by a son, Kyle Hobbs.

Survivors include son, Scott Hobbs and wife, Lindsey, of West; grandchildren, Landra, Taylor and Jaxson Hobbs; sister, Sandra O'Connor, of Waco; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
