Charlie was my paternal great-grandfather. He immigrated to the United States in 1898 (on the infamous Lusitania) and married Edith Alice Parsons on 7/31/1898. They had 5 children, of which 3 survived - Baden Powell, b. 1900, Charles William “Billy”, b. 1902 (my grandfather), and Edith Jane, b. 1904. Sometime between 1908-1909, Charlie divorced my great-grandmother and took the children to be raised by his parents in England. It is unknown why this happened. I never thought to ask and anyone who would have known, such as my Dad, have since passed away. Charlie was a gardener, who made his living working on large estates in the Gwynedd Valley area north of Philadelphia, PA. Charlie would go on to marry Catherine Moore on 11/14/1913. He passed away at age 78 of pancreatic cancer.
