Mary (Mae) Elva Huntsman was born in Thurber, but the town was later moved a little and the name changed to Bicknell, Wayne county, Utah. They moved to Cainville (also Wayne County) and then to Ferron in about 1910. Mae's two older brothers had settled there, so it seems natural that the parents would come there, also. When Mae was about 23 she married Harold Ernest Wolpert on 5 June 1916. He was a mining engineer, and they lived in Park City. There they had a daughter, Eleanore. A year later, he died from a flu epidemic on 28 Oct 1918 and she brought her daughter back to Ferron. She married Morris Samuel Singleton on 19 April, 1920. He had previously been married and his wife died in that same 1918 flue epidemic. He had two small daughters and together they had three children, Phyllis, Colleen and Samuel Morris.

Throughout the years, she was noted for her hospitality and generosity. If a stranger ever was stranded in Ferron who needed a bed or a meal, they were always sent to the Singleton home where they were graciously accepted and made welcome. One stayed with them for three years and left upon graduating from high school. She also raised her great nephew, Max Asay, whose parents had died when he was five years old.

Morris died in 1970 and she followed in 1976.
