Barbara Ann Carlson-Arzel, 84, of International Falls, Minnesota died Tuesday, October 19, 2010 under hospice care at her home.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 22, 2010 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in International Falls with the Rev. Fr. Joseph Sobolik officiating. Interment will be at the Forest Hill Cemetery in International Falls, Minnesota.
She was born on March 26, 1926 in International Falls, MN, the daughter of Archie Babcock and Muriel Wiborg. She was raised and educated in International Falls, graduating from The Falls High School in 1944.
She married Leo Carlson in January of 1947 in Blackduck, MN. She lived her whole life in International Falls. She worked as an nurses aide and ward clerk at Falls Memorial Hospital and the Virginia Municipal Hospital.
She was a member of the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. She enjoyed knitting, sewing and other crafts.
She is survived by her 7 children, Donald (Kaye) Carlson of White Bear Lake, MN, Jerry (Darlene) Carlson of Ray, MN, Tom (Cheryl) Carlson of Ray, MN, Eugene Carlson of International Falls, MN, Julie Isensee of International Falls, MN, Kathy Carlson of Wayzata, MN, and Becky Williams of International Falls, MN; 18 grandchildren; and 38 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Leo V. Carlson; her second husband, Andre Arzel; her parents, Archibald Babcock and Muriel Wiborg; and her grandparents who raised her, Jerry and Cora Fortner.
