Jordan was the 5th son of Joel Lambert & Martha Bennett. His parents emigrated from VA to land designated as Henderson's Grant on the Ohio River in KY. Jordan married Judith Woodson Key, d/o James & Mary Daniel Key of Granville Co, NC, in Henderson Co, KY. Jordan was a circuit rider for the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in TN & AR. In Monroe County he served as a county judge & judge of probate court (1840-1844), served in the AR Legislature (1840-1846). He served as Postmaster of Valley Grove in 1848-56 & 1858-60 after establishing the post office.
