Hood River, Ore., resident Cheryl Hawkins passed away at her mother's home in Hood River on Aug. 2, 2004, at the age of 52. She was born in Tonasket, Wash., on Oct. 24, 1951, the daughter of Iven and Doris (Reeder) Hawkins. In 1960, Cheryl and her family moved to White Salmon, Wash. She attended schools in White Salmon and graduated from Columbia High School. Ms. Hawkins worked in Portland, and then in 1978 she moved to Hood River where she had worked for Sprint for 23 years.

Cheryl loved raising her three daughters, who considered her the best mother ever. Cheryl also liked reading and camping. She enjoyed sports and was an avid Blazers fan.

Surviving Ms. Hawkins are her daughters, Cameo Davis of Eugene, Ore., Suni Davis and Shelicca Davis, both of Hood River, and brother Andrew Hawkins of San Francisco, Calif.

She is also survived by her stepsisters Jan Schlosser of Hood River and Charleen Bunjiovanna of Redwood City, Calif., mother Doris DeHart of Hood River and father and stepmother Iven and Jani Hawkins of Bingen, Wash.

Preceeding Cheryl in death are her sister, Gloria Hawkins, and stepfather, Leroy "Roy" DeHart.

A memorial service was held on Aug. 6, at Gardner Funeral Home in White Salmon with Linda Haddon acting as celebrant. Memorial contributions in Cheryl's name may be given to Hospice of the Gorge. Visit www.gardnerfh.com to sign the online guestbook and send condolences to the family.
