Richard Allen McKay Sr.

Richard Allen McKay, 81, passed away peacefully in his sleep. He was born in Birmingham, Alabama and graduated from Ramsey High School. He enlisted in the US Air Force where he served honorably as an Airman First Class, earning the Occupational Medal while stationed in Germany. He followed his father's footsteps working at Frisco Railroad and later Burlington Northern where he worked as a Yardman then retired as Yardmaster. Richard loved his family and friends and was especially fond of sweets; enjoyed being a master dock fisherman at his lake house where he typically would end his day fishing as the sun set, and lovingly watching over his wife, Vicki. Richard was preceded in death by his parents Stella and Carl; his beloved wife Vicki, daughter Lisa Ann, brothers; Tommy, Jack and Roy and sisters; Sarah and Jonnie. Richard is survived by his sons, Rich, John (Cynthia) and Doug (Paula); brothers; Albert, Jimmy; sisters; Connie, Mary Karl, Mildred, Gloria, Barbara, and Stella, grandchildren; Michael (Emily), Doug (Katie), and Kristin (Brian) and great-grandchildren; Finley and Colton James. Visitation will be from 2pm to 4pm Sunday, Nov. 10th at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home in Trussville. The graveside service will be held on Monday, Nov. 11th at 11am at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Trussville. Above all, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be missed greatly by all who knew him.
