BELMONT - Laura Jean "Jeannie" Marsh, 80, of County Route 48, passed away Tuesday (Nov. 5, 2013) at home.

She was born in Belmont to Clyde and Lottie Smith Hanchett. On April 23, 1955, in Belmont she married James Robert "Bob" Marsh, who predeceased her on May 15, 2010.

Jeannie was a lifelong resident of Belmont who graduated from Belmont Central High School. She later graduated from the Doyle Beauty School in Buffalo and the Baptist Bible Seminary in Johnson City.

She had her own beauty shop at Tuckers Corners, and then taught cosmetology at BOCES for 23 years, retiring in 1988. Jeanie was a member of the National Hairdressers and Cosmetologists Association, as well as a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Belmont.

Jeannie's love was her church, family, work and community. She was an active member of the church where she served as a Sunday school teacher, Youth Club Leader, had been a deaconess and along with her husband Bob, volunteered for 12 years at the Baptist Bible College in Clark Summit, Pa.

Survivors include, two sons, Gary (Sherry) Marsh of Belmont and Robert (Laurie) Marsh of Wilmington Delaware; a daughter, Gail (Michael) Higgins of Ranson, West Virginia; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren; a brother, Edward (Sally) Hanchett of Belmont.

Jeannie was predeceased by a brother, Donald Hanchett and a sister, Anna Mae Aylor.

Burial will take place in Forest Hills Cemetery in Belmont.

Memorials in her name may be made to the First Baptist Church of Belmont.
