From The Pierre Gerardy Family in America, by Evelyn Potter Park, 1979, p. 64:

Nelia Carolena Gerardy was born August 18, 1899 at Jewell City, Kansas, the daughter of Herman and Myrtie (Howe) Gerardy. In 1914 she moved with her family to Dallas, Texas, where she attended high school. In 1926 she went to California where she lived until her death in Feb. 22, 1979. Services were at the Chapel of the Bells, Virgin Mortuary in Hemet, California. Burial was at San Jacinto Valley Cemetery, San Jacinto, California.

Nelia was married (1) on May 22, 1933, to Victor Edward Woodman. They resided at San Marcos, California. Divorced October 18, 1945. After her divorce Nelia studied proofreading and worked in print shops and offices until she married again. She was married (2) on Sept. 9, 1956 to Winfred Browning Sherwood at Mission Inn, Riverside, California. They lived at 160 N. Wateka St., San Jacinto. Winfred died July 12, 1963.

While living in San Jacinto Nelia became interested in the California Grange and worked for sixteen years for the Cherry Valley Grange. Also while there she became interested in Unity. Her strong faith sustained her in her long illness. After Win died she moved to Hemet, California, where she lived in a Mobil Home Park until illness forced her into a convalescent center.

Additional notes from Darrell Brown:

Public records show that in Dallas, Nelia attended Oak Hill Academy, which provides special education for children with educational challenges. By the time she enrolled in North Dallas High School, near the family’s home (4339 Vandelia ST, Dallas, Texas), she was older than the other students. She graduated in the class of 1926, when she was 26 years old. Nevertheless, the 1940 census indicates she completed two years of college. At the least she received some business training, because in 1928 she was working in Dallas as a stenographer. Records indicate that in 1929 she moved to Santa Ana, Orange County, California. Initially she roomed with an elderly couple and worked as an assistant in a doctor’s office, but by 1931 she was working as a saleslady at S. H. Kress & Co. and living at 801 Spurgeon, in Santa Ana. After her marriage to Victor Woodman in 1933, they moved to San Diego County, where Victor had grown up. They lived at 433 San Marcos Blvd in San Marcos, which at that time was a small country town, and Victor worked on a ranch. Nelia was registered as a Republican, while her husband Victor was a Democrat. By 1944 he is registered as a Republican, but they are living at separate addresses. In 1945 they divorced, and Victor died in 1949.

After the death of her father Herman in 1941, Nelia’s mother Myrtie, brother Loren, and sister Herma moved to Long Beach, Los Angeles County, where Herma and perhaps Loren worked for Douglas Aircraft. Loren split up with his wife soon after that and for a while lived with his mother. After Nelia’s divorce, she moved to Los Angeles as well.

In 1956 Nelia married a teacher named Winfred Sherwood. The wedding was held in the Mission Inn, an historic hotel in downtown Riverside, and afterwards they lived in San Jacinto, Riverside County. Winfred had immigrated from Canada in 1919 with his Irish wife Nan (Wall), whom he had married in 1915. They had been naturalized in 1930, and around 1947 Nan had died (or divorced) without issue. Winfred died in 1963; Nelia died in 1979. Neither one had children.
