WICHITA FALLS — Services for Virginia A. Fowler, 87, of Wichita Falls, formerly of Gainesville, are set for 2 p.m. Monday at Clement-Keel Chapel with Joe Williams and Paul Witt of Edgemere Church of Christ in Wichita Falls officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of the Clement-Keel Funeral Home of Gainesville.
Mrs. Fowler died May 8, 2008, at Texas Specialty Hospital in Wichita Falls.
She was born Feb. 23, 1921, in Gainesville to George M. and Clara (Witt) Anderson. On Aug. 28, 1943, she married Robert Martin Fowler Jr. in Gainesville. She was a member of the Commerce Street Church of Christ in Gainesville and the Edgemere Church of Christ in Wichita Falls. She was a secretary for Tyler and Simpson Wholesale Grocery in Gainesville for seventeen years. She loved to cook, telling stories, sewing, traveling, and hiking. She graduated from Gladewater High School in 1937.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Robert Martin Fowler Jr.; daughter, Jane Fowler; grandson, Russell Root; great-grandson, Patrick Root; niece, Donna Sutherland; nephews, Gary Bennettr, Mark Mitchell and Ron Mitchell; cousins, Paul Whitt, Naoma Morrow, Marion Jo Smith, Billy Banks, David Kimbell, and Andy Davis.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Pallbearers are Gary Bennett, Russell Root, Ron Mitchell, Mark Mitchell, David Kimbell Jr. and Stan Kimbell.
