James Lewis Pickens, 90, of North Olmsted, OH, formerly of Ravenswood, WV, passed away February 24, 2022, at Ayden Health Care Center, North Olmsted, OH.

He was born October 9, 1931, in Ravenswood, WV, a son of the late Lovell E. and Anna Jane (Riffle) Pickens.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Mildred L. (Watkins) Pickens; sister, Anna Mae Benson; brothers, Edward, and George Pickens.

He was a graduate of Ravenswood High School and was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion and V.F.W. He was retired from Kaiser Aluminum as a furnace operator and was a member of the United Steelworkers Union Local # 5668 Ravenswood. He was a member of the North United Methodist Church, Ravenswood, WV, and he enjoyed camping.

He is survived by his daughters, Judy Skandera of Cleveland, OH and Jody Lynn (Archie) Hebert of Abbeville, LA; brother, Charles (Sharon) Pickens of Sherman; sister, Gladys Bennett of Cottageville.

Service will be ~1 p.m., Saturday, March 5, 2022, at Casto Funeral Home, Ravenswood, WV, with Rev. Tom Nolan officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Ravenswood Cemetery and provided by the Jackson County Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 6 p.m.-8 p.m., Friday, March 4, 2022, at the funeral home.
